What were the significant achievements and failures of engineering in the 20th century? What are the grand engineering challenges in the 21st century? Why is it essential to address these challenges? How can we teach these grand engineering challenges? These are some of the questions we aim to answer in this session. At the beginning of the current century, a list of 14 grand engineering challenges was presented, the resolution of which is possible in this century. These challenges encompass four areas: sustainable development, health, security, and quality of life. Following the growth and expansion of globalization, there has been significant international convergence regarding engineering education. In this context, the examination of the grand engineering challenges of the present century has been reflected in integrated educational programs in engineering education. Integrated educational programs, while familiarizing students with the most significant engineering challenges ahead, assist them in making decisions regarding their future academic and professional paths.
