Abstract: Education is considered an inseparable part of human civilization and culture, but progress in this field has not kept pace with technological and social progress. In general, when it comes to education, changes in thoughts, habits, and customs take place very slowly. Even today, some people believe that traditional education is the best and only correct method of education, and they consider any innovation and transformation in traditional forms of education as incorrect. In conventional educational systems, limitations such as occupation, age, the need for inclusive participation in classrooms, lack of experienced professors, and other facilities often cause a significant part of people in society to be deprived of education, despite having the necessary ability and talent. These obstacles first introduced the option of distance education, and then online education. Online education is an approach to the educational system, which is designed according to the needs of the learner by using the Internet and related technologies; And it tries to remove obstacles such as time and place of education from the way of learning. Online education, which is the evolution of distance education, provides design, compilation, delivery, and evaluation of education with electronic capabilities and facilities. In recent years, many centers providing online education have been established in our country, and some of them, regardless of the mechanism of this new method of education, actually provide traditional education through the Internet. In this workshop, while learning about the history of distance education in Iran, the feasible method of providing multimedia and distance resources, and the efficiency of providing engineering education online will be discussed.
