Engineering Education in IranHow many engineering graduates enter the job market in the country annually? To what extent does the quality of the provided education meet the needs of the industry? In the next 5 years, how many engineering graduates will the country's industry be able to absorb? These are some of the questions we seek to answer in this session. Modern engineering education in Iran began nearly nine decades ago and has undergone several ups and downs. One of the most recent changes has been the unprecedented expansion of engineering education, which started in the 1980s and peaked in 2011. Examining the increase in the number of students alongside the high percentage of engineering graduates raises several questions. Where is engineering education heading in the country, and what does its future hold? What is the current and future need of the country’s industry for graduates of various technical and engineering disciplines? The advancement of engineering education depends on identifying its challenges and offering solutions to overcome them. To this end, the state of technical and engineering education in the country for one educational year was examined in various areas, such as educational programs, educational institutions, students, graduates, and faculty members. This session presents a summary of a study, which has also been published in book form.
