What is experiential learning and what are its different types?
Experiential learning is one of the most important learning approaches in the contemporary world; an approach that emphasizes the role of experience, action, and reflection in the learning process. Unlike traditional models of education that consider the transmission of information as the main focus of learning, experiential learning is based on the belief that humans learn more deeply and sustainably when they are involved in a real, active, and meaningful experience. In this approach, learning is not simply the receipt of information, but a process of constructing meaning from lived experiences. Experiential learning is based on several basic principles. First, learning is an active process, and the individual must participate in it. Second, experience alone is not enough, and the individual must reflect on his or her experience in order to extract meaning from it. Third, learning becomes deeper when the individual can make connections between experience, knowledge, and action. Finally, experiential learning emphasizes the importance of feedback, error, and continuous improvement.
