The best method for identifying the strengths and weaknesses of educational programs and improving their quality is successfully passing through the accreditation process. Since the beginning of the new millennium, engineering education accreditation worldwide has undergone significant transformations. In the past, what educational institutions offered was the criterion for assessment. With the questioning of this approach, the accreditation mechanism shifted from focusing on what is taught to how it is learned. The Engineering Education Evaluation Institute of Iran (IIAEE) was established in 2011 following this transformation. This institute is a non-governmental, non-commercial, non-political, and non-profit organization composed of individuals, associations, and centers with educational and scientific goals. The institute grants quality certification to academic programs that complete internal and external assessment processes.
